Spooky Squeegy Zinester Tabler

Issue 13 of Purple Myrtle Squeegy is complete!

I had an amazing time in Salem and Boston and I though what better way to commemorate my first zine fest experience than to make a zine about it?

My fellow split-zinester, Nyxia Grey (you may remember her from such split zines about Stephen King and a special about journal entries) invited me to glorious MA to visit Salem and its October spookiness and table with her at the Boston Zine Fest 2015.

This zine recounts all my adventures in Salem during its Haunted Happenings, touring the city, making art with Nyxia, getting an incredible tattoo, and of course, tabling at Simmons College and making my zine fest dream come true.

It features lots of photos in full color, lots of bats and ghouls, lots of zine love and all the magic of DIY culture and the wicked witchy beauty of Salem.

Length: 44 pages
Size: 1/4 page
All cut and paste, typewritten and handwritten.
Printed in full color

You can get it by trading it with zines or with cheddar. I also accept love letters and scented candles.

Time Teleports! PMS-EIF Split Zine!

Nyxia and I banged out another kickass split zine, this time about diaries and journal entries!
PMS issue 12 and Everything.Is.Fine special issue is jam packed with words of pride, pain and power from our respective diaries. It's as intimate, revealing and personal as a perzine gets. With all the pain and heartache these entries reflect, both parts end on a positive note, with hope for the future. And the best part, it's a full-pounding, heavy-duty, juicy and yummy 80 pages!

My part includes entries organized thematically rather than chronologically - evocative and heartbreaking entries about love, depression, seclusion, inspiring and empowering entries about feminism, my love of DIY and more. I also included some of my old drawings and art to visually depict my mindframe of the time, plus a collage of the various covers of my diaries and some quotes from the older ones, in French, Hebrew and English.

Nyxia's part includes entries focusing on her relationship with her husband and how it evolved, fell apart, and how they are trying to rebuild it. The eloquence and beautiful flow of her entries build a certain parallel between some tragic events in her life and her love life - such as the death of her father, her eating disorder, etc. Her part also ends on a positive note with hope for a better future for her relationship and her life.

You zinesters and zine-lovers really ought to get your hands on this incredible... what should I call it, book?! Hehe! Check out my Etsy page and pack your cart up with some DIY delight!

Here are some teasers for your viewing pleasure.

24-Hours of Sheer DIY Radness!

It's almost the end of International Zine Month but I've been busy the entire time, sending zines, getting zines, trading zines, buying zines, selling zines, pitching zines to distros, creating more snail mail art such as postcards, and of course, zine-production!
And my favorite part of it was making the 24-Hour Zine Thing as always. The 2015 challenge was to make another issue of my PMS Perzine, this one is number 11. It includes all the spontaneous deliciousness that is inherent in the 24-Hour Zine Thing world. It includes wonderful little stories such as the one about the alternative scene in Jerusalem, feminism, Slutwalk, Pride, and the metal scene in Jerusalem. It also includes a story about handmade DIY zines versus digital zines, a collage of rigor mortis, my sudden realization that my typewriter is German, and of course yet another cute segment of my comics Twigz.
And this is where I'm supposed to say "you can buy it or trade it, blablabla." But that's not accurate enough so here's what I will say:
You totally and absolutely and positively HAVE to buy/trade it because it kicks ass! If you make a zine that is just as awesome as this, I would love to trade with you! Contact me by email at this addy: fallopian.falafel@gmail.com
And if you don't have anything to trade, money is definitely acceptable. Check out my new shop on Etsy, PMS Mess! and score an awesome issue (or two or three), and receive lovely freebies along with your purchase!
Here are some samples of this rad 24-Hour Zine issue.
